Hello All! I have been given the task to sell the looms that are on the second and third floor of the store where I work. Yours for the taking today is this lovely 4 Harness 6 Treadle 36” Schacht Standard Loom. This loom was purchased a couple of years ago so the store would have a sample of what a Schacht Standard looked like in case anyone wanted to order one (after the Rigid Heddle looms became popular occasionally someone would ask about ordering a floor loom). I’m sad to say that no one has woven on this loom since it has been in our possession.
This loom appears to have been made in December 1985. Shaft 1 has 105 heddles, shaft 2 has 98, shaft 3 has 113, shaft four has 167. You can see by the photo that the heddle bars have corrosion and the heddles do not feel slick. There is a 12 dent carbon steel reed which has corrosion as well. I think all could be cleaned nicely. I just dont have it in me! We have always had this loom on our second floor and I believe the corrosion to have begun with the previous owner since We have kept the loom in a temperature controlled space. The sectional beam has some pegs that have fallen out. We have 9 pegs not on the loom which I showed in a picture. This will not fill all of the holes that have missing pegs. The sectional beam pieces can be removed to make it a plain beam. The wood is in really nice shape as is the loom! But I want you to know all! I think the pictures show what a nice loom it is!
