FS: JL Hammett 45” Counterbalance Loom, Marin Co, CA

$350
Mid-century maple frame loom. It has a weaving width of 45 inches. It is a counterbalance loom with four harnesses and six treadles. It includes the original instruction booklet, it’s original 6-dent reed, and lots of heddles - both texsolv and hand-knotted cotton heddles. There is also a home-made jig for quickly tying new heddles (it came with the loom when I bought it). There’s no ratchet for advancing the warp, but I think Camilla in Canada may have one. Many LeClerc pieces fit this loom.

I have been weaving on this loom for five years - everything from mohair to fine linen, and lots of cotton. Blankets, towels, scarfs, rag rugs, and intricate boutenee. If you’d like to see the kinds of things i’ve woven on it, I’m iridaea on Ravelry. I’ve succumbed to the lure of a smaller, 8-shaft countermarche loom.

The back beam was originally for sectional warping, but was modified by a weaver before me to a simple warp beam. Adding dowels will restore it to sectional warping if you want.

This is a heavy loom - solid maple beams with cast-iron ends on cloth and warp beam. I’m willing to work with someone if they want it shipped, but local pickup would be best. I take it apart yearly for cleaning and tightening and it’s not difficult to put together.

I’d also be interested in trading for a Glimakra band loom.

MOD. EDIT: Please include price in your ad.
