I have a small AVL Workshop Dobby loom, # 2837, for sale. $2600 in Western NC.
24 shafts, 16” weaving width, CD III, 3 ss reeds (4 dent open top for use as a raddle, 10 dent and 12 dent),
additional sectional beam, 1000 heddles, sandpaper beam and also apron on cloth beam, 3 extra solenoids worth $150 for replacements, 8 extra shaft return springs, loom manual and directions for replacing solenoids, tarp clamp temple.
I have made several minor “improvements& quot; to this loom, including installing barrel nut and bolts in the beater top and adding a turnbuckle to the beam tensioner for easier incremental adjustments to the tension. Now attaching the pawl with a bolt and lock nut so it won’t come loose.
I should also mention that I have colored the bottom shaft frames to more easily distinguish the shafts for threading and have written numbers on the shaft bars. This could all be sanded off if it is not to your taste.
I have used this loom as a sampling and scarf loom for a number of years. I think I am the third owner. Wound as much as 30 yards of 10/2 cotton on it with the sectional beam, though I had to cut off once in a while. I’ve done as much as 12 yards and not cut off until completed. I have taken it to a couple of workshops with warps on, and transported it for doing demonstrations. It takes about 20 minutes to disassemble and reassemble. Can be transported in a regular sedan. You do have to locate near a wall outlet, of course, in order to weave on it.
I bought this loom as a replacement for a Baby Wolf, and it was to be a transitional loom while waiting for a 30” dobby with 24 or more shafts to become available. I have had that other loom for while now and have finally decided to part with this one.
