Many moons ago, before I was married and had children , I took weaving classes at the Pittsburgh Center for the arts and then 2 semesters at Slippery Rock when they had a weaving program taught by Akiko Kitani. Since then I have been on and off buying looms and seeing how they fit in my space and life and, truthfully doing very little weaving. I was so excited to get this beautiful loom! I loved when I had the chance to weave on a countermarche loom many years ago when I was learning so I bought it and have had it put away for when I can weave again. Since that purchase I have acquired two other smaller looms - one countermarch and one counter balance. I thought I was set for when it was going to be my time to weave!
But I guess sometimes making plans is silly! Since taking a Nuno felting class it is all I can think about! And it has been a year and a half and it is still all I can think about! So I am ready to sell my big dreamy loom to make room for other dreams.
This is a Bexell Cranbrook 4 harness 8 treadle loom with the bench. It is dated March of 1971. I bought it from the original owner and have the original papers. There are about 600-650 original string heddles. I also have a spool rack that attaches to the back of the loom though it was not original to the loom. I can tell you more of the loom history if you would be interested.
These are the short chains.
These are the long chains.
These are the spindles for the spool rack that sits on the loom. I’m sorry I didn’t put them on the rack for the picture!
Asking $1100. The loom and I are located in Erie, PA.
