Hi, I’m new and looking for my first loom, so please forgive my ignorance on weaving terminology and information.
My research and the advice I’ve gotten from Ravelry shows I need at least a 22” weaving width, and at least 4 harnesses/shafts (are those the right terms?). But just to be certain, I wanted to say that what I want to make is kitchen towels and other home goods (like placemats and table runners). So, if I understand correctly, the rigid heddle looms and much cheaper frame looms are not suited to this sort of project. It’s my understanding that I need a table or floor loom, and I don’t have room for a floor loom. And I’ve also been told 22” is the minimum I’d need, but I wouldn’t mind something a little bigger if it were available.
Therefore, with all that said, I’m looking for a used table loom. It doesn’t have to be pretty or newer, I just need one that works and will be suitable for the kind of projects I want to do. My budget is between $100-$200. I don’t know anything about brands, so I really don’t care what brand it is. If you have something that meets this criteria, I’d love to hear from you and see if I can get started learning this craft!
Thanks you, and God bless!
ETA: I’m north of DFW, so local pickup would be an option if you’re in my area. I can give details in PM.
