FOR SALE: Shannock Student Folding 24” Tapestry Loom - $350

I have loved this loom. It took me 5 years to find one and used it well. Unfortunately it won’t fit in my new studio. Instead of hoping to figure out a way to make it fit, I decided it’s time to let it go and let someone else enjoy it and put it to use.
It weaves 24”, has two shafts, two treadles and holds an incredibly tight tension … a hallmark of Shannock looms. Made from enameled steel and galvanized steel with wooden treadles, shafts and work tray. The loom is warped by attaching warp threads to the top warp beam with half-hitch knots, then threaded thru the heddles and tied on to the cloth beam; making warping quick and easy. The loom folds for storage. There are wheels to facilitate easy movement when the loom is folded. The loom height is adjustable as is the the work tray.
Included with the loom, along with the wheels, are the instructions for unfolding and setup and refolding, 2 shafts with heddles that are 4dpi, a new set of shaft sticks should you want a different sett and the template for creating the shafts (the string to make heddles is not included), along with a dowel that functions as a second treadle rod. I never used this but used the galvanized steel rod at the bottom for treadle placement (see B&W photo). The brackets for the extra treadle rod have been lost unfortunately, but I know you can find something at Home Depot or Lowes to replace them.
I paid almost $900 for this and am selling it for $350. Part of the reason I am selling it for such a low price is this loom was damaged in Hurricane Sandy. The damage is cosmetic … some of the enamel has come off and I have photos to illustrate this. The loom has been lightly cleaned but I would suggest a deep cleaning and lubrication to make sure all the bolts and moving parts are smooth. WD40 is perfect for this. The wood tray shows some stains but if you find it problematic, you can always paint it to cover it up.
The loom works as before so it’s still a fully functional loom … it’s just not as pretty as it was. I had planned on getting it fully refurbished, repainted and all, but since my studio can not accommodate it, I decided to sell.
This is for pickup only as it’s a very heavy loom. Loom is located in NYC. You’re more than welcome to hire a shipper who will come and pick it up and then crate it for shipping to you. Measurements folded are 29” w X 36” h X 6” d.
