FOR SALE: TIA rigid heddle loom $50 plus shipping from 56339. Paypal only, thanks.
This loom was put together but never used. It has sat hiding under my bed for far too long and really needs a good home. Not pictured are 2-22” shuttle sticks and 1-22” pick up stick.
There is no box for this item but I will dismantle it for shipping and package well. The lighting is odd in the pix and may not be indicative of true wood colors.
The loom frame is 23 1/2” wide x 21” deep x 4 1/4” high. The pawl/ratchet mechanisms are on the outside and are 1” each side, both front and rear so total width including them would be 25 1/2”.
This loom is easy to put together using the assembly instructions included. There are assembly instructions, a weaving booklet and an idea booklet.
The rods are made from hardwood; the 8 dent reed is wood on top and bottom and extruded/engineered plastic in the heddle portion (similar to the Ashford, Cricket and all the others); the ratchets and tension brakes are some sort of hard molded plastic material; the sides are extruded plasticine of some sort that are structurally engineered with bracings.
This loom has a 20” weaving width. That means just like any rigid heddle loom that size there will be some “play” in it that will tighten up after you warp and weave on it. By “play” I don’t mean wobbly just that you can put torque on it to slightly and briefly skew it but that it readily goes back to shape when torque is released. Structurally, rigid heddle looms of this size do that, it is not a design flaw but rather a physics reality that does not affect anything in weaving but if you are new to weaving I wanted you to know that “fun fact” about rigid heddle looms. :)
If you have any more questions please ask me. I have taught weaving, spinning and knitting for the last 30 years to ages 5-91 so if I don’t know the answer to a fiber craft question I know how to find out.
Have a good one,
Marie
