This gorgeous X-frame Gilmore loom was built in the 1950’s. It has 8 shafts and 12 treadles, and a sectional beam with 2” sections and a 1-yard diameter. It has a deep weaving area, which means less advancing. The loom is very heavy and sturdy and can weave anything. I’ve woven a scarf, rugs, cloth for clothing, and many bags on this loom.

The warp will be removed prior to sale, and the reed will not be going with the loom, but I am including an older reed that needs to be cleaned. It also includes appx 750 heddles - appx 250 flat steel, and appx 500 new inserted eye. The loom folds up for transporting and threading. The warping board on the floor behind the loom is not included.

The loom has texsolv tie-ups - 8 per treadle. It also has new foam bumpers under the jacks and above the lamms in the dowel cage. I also replaced several warp pegs, the steel apron rod, and the ribbons on the apron rod.

The loom does have a few of issues, however. First, the bolts are rusty and difficult to remove. Second, the dowels that guide the lamms have gotten a little delicate. I’ve repaired the broken ones with wood glue and painter’s tape. Finally, it has a treadle that broke. I repaired that with two metal braces and wrapped it in painter’s tape so it would be soft on the foot. It is quite sturdy with the repair. The loom price reflects these issues, and is firm at $600.

Located in Oviedo, Fl. X-posted.
