Measurements:
The widest part of the Nilart is the beater, at just under 56”
Other than the beater rest of the loom is 52 5/8” wide.
The depth of the loom is 46 1/2” open, and 33” with the back folded.
The 9” of the treadles in front of the loom are covered by the bench when not in use.
The bench is wider than the set of 14 treadles, so it straddles the treadles.
Height is 34 1/2” at breast beam.

Since owning this loom, I have completely cleaned, lubricated and updated the loom. It has brand new aprons and tie-on bars, brand new treadle cords, brake release cord, new shaft bumpers, new beater bar bumpers, new cording on the tie-on rod.
I cleaned the wood with Howard’s Wood Soap, then applied multiple coats of Howards Restore A Finish, then sealed with Howards Feed & Wax. Each shaft was removed, all metal on each shaft was cleaned and lubricated, and all heddles were removed, counted and reinstalled “right side up” for threading by a right-handed person.
Inside the loom frame, the metal shaft guides alongside the shafts and the lamms were cleaned with steel wool and lubricated with Silicon Oil-PTFE. All moving parts on the loom, such as the metal joints of the lamms were lubricated. No squeeks!

I have (way) too many looms, so something must go. I am selling this Leclerc Nilart 12-shaft loom, which is the predecessor to the current Nilus II loom. When Leclerc changed the name to Nilus II, they eliminated the 12-shaft model. However, this is the same as Nilus II, but with 12 shafts. You cannot buy a new 12-shaft Nilus II anymore. As does the Nilus II, this uses 12 1/2” wire heddles (you get 150 per shaft, for a total of 1800 heddles). Those long heddles give you a super large shed. The breast beam height and physical size of the loom are the same as the current Nilus II.
This loom comes with its original, matching Leclerc size large bench which has a storage bin on either side. The 44” sideways “length” perfectly straddles the 14 treadles of the Nilart.
